It has been a hot minute since I have updated this website (#COVID19) but without further ado... I actually met Jason through his business Wellington Canine Coaching (a hard recommend by the way. Jason offers one-on-ones to address any challenges you and your dog might be having, and to ensure you are living your best lives). I’ll let Jason introduce his whānau - “We live in Wellington we are a childless by design married couple and have 3 dogs, Boris, Penny and Rosie”.
How did you come into each other’s lives? My cousin had a couple of dogs I liked which were apparently Neapolitan Mastiff/Bullmastiff/Dogue de Bourdeux mixes so I got the breeders details and texted him to let me know when the next litter was available and he said he was literally putting them on trademe so I thought that was a sign.
I asked for photos as we would have liked a blue dog but they were all black apart from one Formentino (dilute fawn) and I put down a deposit on him before we had even found a house and that was Boris.
Penny came along because we apparently had to get a small dog also, we put a deposit down for a schnauzer mix but it broke its leg so breeder cancelled on us and we came across Dachshund Penny and fell in love with the breed.
Rosie was advertised as a rehome with aggression issues which compelled us to take her as we don’t have children or pets other than dogs so its a safe environment for her to become her best self which she really has fitted in well with us.
How did you decide on their names? I think names have a lot of weight behind them in how you percieve and treat dogs so they tend to end up suiting them well, we just wanted unique names (at the time) and think they suit them well.
What are they like? Boris is a typical Mastiff mix, would like to think he is keeper of the house and all within, we sleep soundly at night.
Penny is a dignified lap dog on one hand and a voracious killer of pests like rats or mice and I was glad to have her when I was doing predator free trapping to finish off any rats that had been caught alive in the traps, one quick shake and its all over.
Rosie is the top dog of the house and a real cheeky dog, she is difficult to set boundaries with because she will keep you laughing.
What makes them the goodest boy and girls? They are what they are and that is neither good or bad.
What are your favourite walks? Oruaiti Reserve on leash, my off leash haunts are secret.
Does they have favourite toys? Boris likes socks, the girls don’t play with toys after having had the real thing with rats.
What are their favouritest things to do? Just hanging out being dogs
Where do they all sleep? Boris has a bed in our bedroom then gets on the bed when I get up, the girls keep our feet warm.
What are their most loved foods? Variety is the spice of life.
Have they had any transgressions? Boris rolling in rancid seal blubber was probably the worst thing that has ever happened to me.
What do your pups do when you go to work or out? They chill at home, Boris is kennelled and the girls are at liberty in the house.
What are their biggest lols? Probably Rosie and Boris playing together, she is very good at bringing out play in dogs that it might not come so naturally to, very cute to watch.
Aww so nice to meet your pack Jason.
